Description

What Causes Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

PCOS is a very common disorder affecting approximately 10 percent of reproductive-aged women, up to 10 million women each year. PCOS symptoms vary with the individual; however, it is most often characterized by excess androgen levels (testosterone), abnormal or irregular menstrual cycles, and obesity. Most women who suffer from PCOS will experience increased abdominal fat as well as both reproductive and metabolic abnormalities. Although PCOS can vary significantly in severity, women with more serious cases of PCOS are at a greater risk for infertility, diabetes, and heart disease.

Polycystic ovary syndrome tends to run in families. For example, if a mother is diagnosed with PCOS at one time or another in her lifetime, then her daughter(s) may also be at higher risk. This suggests that the onset of PCOS has more to do with genetics than lifestyle. However, lifestyle, including diet and exercise, has an impact on the overall severity of PCOS.

What Are the Symptoms of PCOS?

The most common symptoms of PCOS include:

  • Acne
  • Obesity
  • Infertility
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Metabolic irregularities
  • The presence of ovarian cysts (in some cases)
  • Increased androgen hormone levels
  • Excess hair growth (particularly facial hair)
  • Research has shown that some women who suffer from PCOS have small ovarian cysts; however, this isn’t always the case.

PCOS Treatment

Medical PCOS treatment options include birth control pills to help regulate menstrual cycles, medications to help prevent the onset of diabetes and control cholesterol levels, hormones to help stabilize hormone levels and increase fertility, and even cosmetic procedures to remove excess hair growth. Notice that these medications are prescribed to treat symptoms or prevent related conditions, not to improve overall female health. Nor do they address low testosterone in women or help to balance hormones naturally, which is the real problem behind PCOS. What modern medicine won’t tell you is that there are a number of natural remedies that can not only help reduce symptoms and balance hormones, thus preventing future health conditions, they can improve overall health as well.

How Can Women Balance Hormones Naturally?

There are a few different ways that women can address high testosterone and balance hormones naturally. Consult the chart above to see what the science says about the ingredients in INOSIA.
